General Information
Set alone in the beautiful Savernake Forest, St Katharine’s is not part of a village, but aims to welcome and serve the forest community, and beyond. Services are mainly traditional, almost always with an organist for hymns. Special days such as Christmas and Easter are particularly well attended, and on the Saturday before Palm Sunday we have a puppet show for children to tell them the Easter story in a fun way. Remembrance Sunday is another special service, arranged with meticulous care, and often giving attention to the military history of the surrounding area, which brings in a very full church. We enjoy a strong link with the thriving St. Katharine’s Primary School, whose children use the church regularly through the year, including for their Nativity Play at Christmas. We usually have a choir for our Christmas Carol Service, and the children sing too.
St. Katharine’s is a much loved, well cared for church and we welcome all who come to join us in celebrating the message of Christ.
