We warmly welcome babies, children, young people and adults of all ages into the life of the Church through the Sacrament of Baptism (also called Christening).
At the heart of Baptism the candidate is brought or comes to the font. The priest pours water on his or her head in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The newly baptised person is then welcomed into their new membership of the Church.

If you are a parent or parents with a child or children whom you would like to be baptised, please contact the Team Vicar responsible for the parish in which you live.
He or she will visit you to discuss your child’s Baptism with you. He or she will explain the commitment you will make on your child’s behalf and to arrange a date and time for the Baptism to take place.
Babies and young children are normally baptised during Sunday worship at their local parish church.
If you are a young person (up to 18) or an adult who has not been baptised (or if you don’t know whether you have been Baptised) we would be delighted to help you.

The Baptism of young people and adults often takes place in Salisbury Cathedral after a short period of preparation. It is followed at the same service by Confirmation by the Bishop.
