St. James’, Buttermere

Ham parish is unique in the Team in that we have two active churches with separate but overlapping congregations: All Saints in Ham and St James the Great in the small community of Buttermere.

General Information

St James’ Buttermere is a hidden treasure. The highest parish church above sea level in the whole diocese, it has no electricity and worship takes place in candlelight, including the popular Crib Service.  Loving and committed members of the community play a hugely supportive role in the life of the church here.  Whether you are young, old or in between you are very warmly welcomed to join our services.  Both Ham and Buttermere are small communities with big hearts witnessed daily in quiet acts of kindness and love.
