The door at St Michael and All Angels’ Church in Shalbourne is always open, highlighting our aim of welcoming everyone to learn about the Christian faith. Visitors have the chance to explore a building used for worship since the 13th century, at any time of day – something clearly appreciated and reflected in the comments book.

General Information

We hold three to five services a month of which two usually include celebrations of Holy Communion, a Family Service and Matins, some occasionally lay-led. After the service we indulge in coffee and biscuits and this gives us the chance to get to know our community better. The village school children get involved with services at Christmas and Easter and with the Leaver's Service, but we are always seeking new ways to encourage young adults and children to become more involved in church life. It is a huge challenge as there are so many competing secular attractions, but a challenge worth taking on.

Our Usual Pattern of Services

  • 1st - 4th Sundays 

  • Each month we offer Holy Communion with Hymns at 9am and 11am as well as Evensong at 5pm. Services are alternated with All Saints', Ham, so the easiest way to see what is happening each month is to visit the Services, News & Events page which you can find in the menu at the top right of this page.
  • 5th Sunday
  • This will be a team service held at one of the churches in the Savernake Team.

News & Events

We are proud to be a Fairtrade Church so when you join us for fellowship after services you will be served Fairtrade drinks and usually biscuits or cakes made using Fairtrade ingredients.
