The Altar Frontals at St Mary's.
Mrs Val Patrick has now completed the fifth and last of our new Altar Frontals, the purple one which is the first one pictured below.
The design was inspired by a book called God's Acre by Francesca Greenoak. God's Acre, the churchyard, has over the centuries established itself as an unofficial nature reserve. The panels on the altar frontal represent flowers, birds and butterflies which have existed there for hundreds of years.
Inherent in the imagery of flowers is the idea of resurrection, so relevant to Easter.
The other four frontals, also made by Val, are shown below.
The Parish is extremely grateful to Val for creating these wonderful Altar Frontals for us to use and admire for many years to come.
