Information

CHRISTMAS! Very many thanks to everyone who contributed their skill, labour and love to make the church so beautiful and ready for our Christmas worship! Chute is really lucky to have such kind and talented people, and we all appreciate them!

There is quite a lot is happening in February … in date order:

Sunday 5th February 10-11.30am Sunday Club in the Village Hall when we will prepare the Christingles!

Sunday 5th February 4pm THE CHRISTINGLE SERVICE
As Christingle does not have a connection with Christmas, we hope you will enjoy the service in February instead!
The Annual Parochial Church Meeting will follow the service and be held in Quince Cottage
The Annual Report and the Accounts will be presented (and displayed on the notice board in the church until after Easter). All parishioners are welcome! The PCC will be glad to hear any questions or suggestions.

Sunday 12th February 11am PLOUGH SUNDAY SERVICE
‘Although Plough Sunday is traditionally the Sunday after The Epiphany it may be celebrated on any appropriate Sunday to coincide with the start of the ploughing season’ so we are a little late but would still like to celebrate the plough and the land. Do join us for this special service.

Friday 25th February 2.15-3.15pm Pram Gathering in the church. All 4s and under welcome!

Monday 27 February 8-9.30pm LENT COURSE begins in Quince Cottage
We are doing a Lent Course of 5 Monday evening sessions based on the writings of CS Lewis and we will see excerpts from the DVDs of ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’ and ‘Shadowlands’. Lent was traditionally a time of sackcloth and ashes, and a drab grey-run up to the glorious resurrection theme of Easter, and this Lent Course tackles some tough subjects such as suffering, sin, judgement and the Devil! We can all learn! Coffee and tea will be provided, the cost will be £5 (for the book) discussion will be informal and interesting, and any/everyone is welcome. You can just turn up, but it would be helpful to tell David or Mary or a PCC member in advance if possible.

LADIES’ BREAKFAST – Saturday 3rd March – Chute Village Hall 9-11am
Come and have a lovely breakfast in the Village Hall! All ladies welcome and it’s free! This year’s speaker is Vivienne Roderick, mother of 5, who was born in Ireland, brought up in Australia and now lives in England. She has had an extraordinary life and tells it very well – you will not be bored! Bring your friends – the more the merrier! You just have to book in with a PCC member so that we know how many to cater for.

News of a concert in Ludgershall on Monday 6th February at 7.30pm
The Men's and Boys' choir of Salisbury Cathedral will be giving a concert in St James's Church at 7.30 p.m. There will be half an hour of bell ringing beforehand, the tickets cost £7.50 and will include tea or coffee and biscuits. For tickets please phone Julie Walker on 01264 790448.
