We are anxious to add new names to the flower rota, as several people are no longer able to do the church flowers. You do not need to be an expert in flower arranging - simply able to give a little of your time to make the church look welcoming and pretty. If you think you can do this, please contact Mary Gray (668204) or Melanie Melsom (668389)
A letter from the Lay Co-Chairman of the Pewsey Deanery
Dear Colleagues,
DEANERY SYNOD· A NEW APPROACH
We know that our church is facing many new challenges both spiritually and
structurally and it is important that we adjust our ways of going about God's business
to keep pace. Deaneries have had to re-group in several ways - with the formation of
clergy teams, multiple benefices and, most recently our parish clusters. In order to
avoid all pulling in different directions, the main role of Deanery Synod is to provide a
common forum for these groupings where we can explore and agree on ways of
working together as effectively as possible.
I expect that, like me, many who have attended ope' meetings of Synod have
found the lively and productive debates that have taken place to be a refreshing change
from those of earlier gatherings. I am told that that we haven' t made as much use as
possible of the abundant expertise that is available in our parishes in the past, and it seems
to me that the best way to do this is to continue to encourage a much wider
participation in Synod to enliven our debates and arrive at workable
conclusions.
I place particular importance on the valuable contribution that
church wardens have made recently in shaping our approach to the issues.
Therefore please advertise widely in your patches that all Deanery Synods are open to
anyone interested in taking part, and I therefore ask you to encourage the widest
possible attendance from your parishes from now on.
One important caveat ,please make sure that all who attend are aware that, whilst
anyone is welcome to participate in a debate, only your elected Deanery Synod
members may cast your parishes' vote.
Best regards,
Rodney Stone
Lay Co-Chairman, Pewsey Deanery
A letter from Eric and Daphne Hayden
Dear 'All our friends in Ham'
Life is full of surprises, and the biggest surprise happened on Sunday. We thought that we would be joining Jim and Susie for a quiet Sunday lunch. We should have known better!
Words would never be able to express how we felt and how we feel, and we were overwhelmed completely with the present of that truly beautiful tray with its very special engraving.A treasure indeed - plus the beautiful bouquet of flowers.
Ham has always had a special place in our hearts from our first visits over ten years ago.You have made us feel so welcome that we have felt like extended residents. You have always invited us to the summer parish party and harvest supper, annd we are going to miss you all.Christmas morning worship with the band has been the high spot of our Christmas worship too.
However life is all about moving on,and time will tell if we have made the right decision to move on.Please keep in touch,we value your friendship.
With our love
Eric and Daphne
