All Saints Church, Burbage - Mens Group Home Page

Our Mission:

There is a thriving Men’s Group at All Saints Church in Burbage that holds events throughout the year—we regularly have up to 30 men attend our breakfasts and other gatherings.  Our desire is to lead a life that is pleasing to Christ.  Through the fellowship of other Christian men we aim to encourage one another to be men of prayer, devoted husbands and inspirational fathers.  We believe we can reach higher by challenging and inspiring one another to walk more closely with Jesus, and that by coming together we will be a force for good in our families, our church and our community.

Two words are at the root of all we do:  ENCOURAGE and CHALLENGE.  We want to encourage one another in our daily walk to be more like Jesus, and we want to motivate and challenge one another to reach higher in our desire to serve Him. 

Two Bible verses encapsulate this: 

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.  Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as we see the Day approaching.
Hebrews 10:24, 25

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

We believe that prayer partnerships are a valuable way of achieving these aims.

Activities
The main event of the year is our Weekend Away in May when we head off to the hills to walk and share fellowship together—we have visited both the Brecon Beacons and the Peak District.  Speakers challenge us in the evenings to face the issues that affect Christian men in today’s world.  Laughter and good food are other ingredients that keep our men signing up each year.  Although fell walking is at the heart of the weekend, we get many non-walkers join us for the fellowship and the teaching.

Other activities include:

• Breakfasts with speakers, some of them out on the Downs
• An annual Father and Kids Camp-Out
• Skittles Evenings in the pub
• An annual dinner, prepared for the ladies of the church
• Bike rides and walks
• Six-Nations Rugby games
• Golf tournaments

An invitation
