All Saints Church, Burbage - Men’s Weekend Away
![]()
For our fourth annual Men’s Retreat, we will be returning, by popular demand, to Llwynin farmhouse in the Brecon Beacons. The cottage was excellent and Dickie assures us there plenty more walks to do. The formula will be the same: a weekend of Christian fellowship, fine hill-walking, Biblical teaching, laughter and good food. Make a note of the dates and come and join us.
Llwynin farmhouse near Sennybridge dates from around 1620 and is a spacious period farmhouse with interconnecting barn conversion that can accommodate 18 men. The only way to be sure of your place is to get your name down early. Please see Geoff or Ralph with your £20 deposit.
Here are some details of the trip:
Dates: Arrive at Llwynin farmhouse after lunch on Friday, May 16, 2008 and leave after breakfast on Monday, May 19, 2008. It’s fine if you have to arrive late and leave early, but there is no reduction in the price.
Cost: Approximately £100. This price includes cottage rental and meals from Friday supper until Monday breakfast, inclusive. Speak to me if the cost of the weekend is a problem for you—we don’t want anyone to miss out who really wants to attend.
Accommodation: There are 9 bedrooms in the farmhouse with an interlinked barn. For more details of the cottage, check out the website on http://www.
breconcottages.com/ index.cfm?fuseaction=CM.cottage&Propref=LLWNI.
Walks: Sennybridge is in a prime location in the Brecon Beacons and Dickie Davis will lead us on some inspiring and magnificent walks.
Other activities: As in all National Parks, there is plenty to do if you are not a walker. At the farm there is a games barn with a table tennis table, table football and storage for mountain bikes.
Fellowship: Highlight of our weekends away is always the fellowship with other men. Inevitably, we deepen friendships, forge prayer partnerships and share those things that face us all as Christian men in the world.
Please get the date in your diary and give a £20 deposit to Geoff Simmonds (01980-611147 or geoff.simmonds@waitrose.com) or Ralph Kennington (01672-870478 or rjkennington@hotmail.com) if you want to join us.
To inspire one another to walk more closely with Jesus, who alone enables
us to be a force for good in our families, our church and our community.
