Puddingfest 4th May
Our Puddingfest was once again a great success. We would like to thank all who came along to enjoy the sampling of the many puddings and chat with friends and especially to Mike who tweeted his friends who came from far and wide to join in the evening. A big thank you to all who provided such a wonderful range of puddings for us all to indulge in. We would also like to thank all those who helped in any way with the evening to make it the success it was - just under £350 was raised for Church funds. THANK YOU. |

Easter
Our Easter week services started with Compline on the Wednesday night which was followed on Good Friday for our Walk of Witness from St Andrew's Church through the Stations of the Cross to St Mary's in Collingbourne Kingston. A really big THANK YOU to everyone who contributed in any way to the beautiful floral arrangements that welcomed everyone on that Sunday morning. They were stunning. |

A big thank you to everyone who donated the soup and bread for the Lent Lunches and also to all those who came along and supported us. This year we raised over £250 for Naomi House Hospice. THANK YOU. |
Rogation, Ascension and Pentecost Services
On 13th May we have our Rogation Sunday, when we ask blessing for the fruits of the soil, followed by Ascension Day (on the 40th day of Easter) and therefore always a Thursday, and then, on the 50th day, Pentecost (hence the name, but also known as Whit Sunday).
There will be an Ascension Day service on Chute Causeway on May 17th at 7pm at Anton Post (which is where the road from the Chutes meets the Causeway at map ref: SU303551): it is a beautiful spot - so do come and join in.
Later in the month - Sunday 27th Pentecost Holy Communion at 11.00am, St Mary's congregation will join us at St Andrew's Church.
Breakfast
Following the early morning Communion on 6th May, there will be breakfast at 8.45am. You do not have to come to the service beforehand, though many folk do.
Annual Parochial Church Meeting 15th April 2012
Our Annual Parochial Church Meetings were held on 15th April after Evensong. Churchwardens Julian Price and Mike Cox were re-elected for another year and Natalie Williams and Sarah Finch elected to the PCC. Carol Chandler and Anna Cox remain as Deanery Synod Representatives for St Andrew's. Subsequently, there was a very brief PCC meeting when Sarah was elected treasurer and Anna secretary to the PCC. Phyllis Richards put herself forward for co-option after the annual meetings had closed and was duly co-opted on to the PCC. The incoming year will be a challenging one for the PCC - major fundraising campaigns need to be organised and followed up individually in the parish and there is major maintenance to be undertaken at St Andrew's, while at the same time many of our services will increasingly be lay driven as the number of stipendiary clergy in the Savernake Team is reduced to two from three - so please keep PCC members in your prayers.
Team Rector
Our new Team Rector, Rev Michael McHugh, is to be licensed on 5th July and the process of recruiting a new Team Vicar will start the following day. Please remember that, in the meantime, our Vicar has 11 parishes to look after in the Savernake Team alone and she has responsibilities in the rest of the Pewsey Deanery too- so bear with her if she seems a tad overstretched - it is because she is!! If the Churchwardens or Lay Pastoral Assistant can help you, just ask one of us - churchwardens on 850360 or 850283 or email standrews@savernaketeam.com
SCAMPS
SCAMPS meetings in May are on 2nd, 16th & 30th at 10.30am. SCAMPS is a group of young Mums (Dads, Grandparents and/or Carers are welcome too) who come along with their small children and enjoy a cup of coffee and a chat. For slightly older children we usually have a craft type activity for them to do along with Mum.
Afternoon Teas
The drop-in afternoon teas have restarted and in May will meet on 23rd at 3.00pm. You are most welcome to drop in for a cuppa and a chat.
The Queen's Diamond Jubilee and London Olympics
This year celebrates both the Queen's Diamond Jubilee at the beginning of June and the London Olympics in July. St Andrew's will be contributing to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations on 2nd June - details and programme on our events page at www.standrewsducis.org.uk - with music by "Nostalgia" Caribbean Band and "Echo" (who played at the archery a couple of years back). Then, on 20th July, rock and pop by "Dogs without Collars" to mark the Olympic prelims week. Help, ideas and any help with organisation will be much appreciated - if you feel you can and want to help, let one of the churchwardens know or a Parish Council member.
